4th day of keyboards + Stefan's solos and leads

I (Stefan) arrived at the studio around 3 p.m. and found that Mikael was already there - tidying up and such. Poor David had gotten sick and couldn't make to the studio today. We started to lay down the remaining Moog bass parts and also some remaining lead stuff. The Moog's keyboard didn't have enough keys to play the intro lead melody on SPAWN so we ended up recording that with a Roland Juno 106. Wrapping up the keyboard works with a forgotten pad on Mikael's solo on REMOTE VIEWS, and voilá: we're finished with all the keyboard parts!

Moving quickly along to something that I'd feared for some time now: my guitar solos. Not having played the guitar in quite a time had made me question my present technical abilities. Mikael also stated that my soloing style is a lot more "sport" than his. Chops are needed, badly. Anyway, we hooked up my old Music Man RD100 with a Behringer V-amp2, and also some TC Electronic preamp of Mikael's. We ended up with a very personal, Stefan Aronsson-type sound, I think. Mikael tried, for fun, to play his solos with "my" sound but found it extremely difficult. I guess you can expect two very different solo sounds, all for the better, in my opinion. You can really distinguish our sounds from each other. Great.

W
e hit it off with the solo on ROOM 101. A not too shreddy solo but with a nice vibe to it anyhow. My fingertips were beginning to hurt a bit we recorded some "slingshots" on the choruses on ROOM 101, THE BRAINSHAPED MIND and REMOTE VIEWS. After that, we packed our stuff and left. Today (Wednesday), Mikael have to leave for Norrköping but I will continue soloing and keep you updated on what's happening.
